Matfen Community Plan – The Next Stage
As part of the continuing development of the Community Plan, we have been in discussion with representatives from Northumberland County Council and also Northumberland Communities Together (NCT) to look at the next stage, which is to consolidate Matfen Village Hall as the Local Resilience Hub in the event of any climate emergency situation. This entails looking at current resource, what needs improving, what needs adding etc. so that the Village Hall is fit for purpose and can accommodate a number of people should the need arise.
We have applied for funding to help with this and are awaiting the response, however following a particular meeting with NCT we were advised to move quickly in establishing some key markers that need to be in place to ensure we are ready for any emergency, one of which is training volunteers to be in place when we need them. We are therefore asking for anyone who would like to help with this project to volunteer and be part of the team who would be able to welcome and assist people as they come to the Village Hall. Full training will be given by NCT as to the roles needed and what to do in the various scenarios we will undoubtedly face. Ideally we would love 10-12 people to volunteer expecting that in the event of an emergency there will likely need to be 5-6 people in attendance, giving us a chance to rotate volunteers so that no one person is on continual duty.
If you would like to help in this way then please contact Matfen Parish Council who are co-ordinating this project on firstname.lastname@example.org, once we have enough volunteers we will then arrange meeting/training days with NCT
Thank you for your help
